
Your mind lies to you
The reason the mind is not at peace right now is because it has strayed into our moods.
Actually, the mind is just the mind, there is nothing more to say. The mind is just there, resting in its natural state, that is all. Sometimes it feels peaceful and sometimes it does not, that is because it has been deceived by moods.
The mind that has not been trained has no wisdom, it is stupid. Moods appear and deceive it, making it feel pleasure one moment and suffering the next. Happiness and sadness come and go because your mood attracts and expels them.
However, the natural state of a person's mind is not happiness or sadness. The experience of happiness and sadness is not the mind itself, but only these moods that have deceived it. You don't have to understand this but experience it, and that is why I try to provide you with numbers and percentages in my retreats that give you information about your behavior and your moods.
The mind, carried away by these moods, gets lost without any idea of what is happening, and as a result we feel pleasure and pain. This is because the mind has not been trained yet, it is not yet very perceptive. So there we go thinking that it is our mind that is suffering or that is happy, when the reality is that the mind has lost itself in its different moods, nothing more.
The thing is that actually this mind of ours is peaceful by nature. It is still and calm like a leaf that is not being blown by the wind. But if the wind blows, the leaf trembles, and the reason for this is the wind. It is the same with the mind: because of these moods, it falls prey to thoughts.
If your mind were not lost in these moods, it would not tremble. If it understood the nature of thoughts, it would simply remain still. This is called the natural state of the mind. And the reason I am giving you this reflection now is to see your mind in its original state.
We think that the mind is really pleasurable or that it is really at peace, but the truth is that the mind has not created any real pleasure or pain. These thoughts have come, they have deceived the mind and the mind has fallen into the trap and has become entangled in the thoughts.
Therefore, we have to train our mind to increase our wisdom, and understand the true nature of thoughts, instead of just blindly following them.
