High performance teams
From the Leaders Summit retreat.
Is it possible to develop Natural Work Teams into Self-Directed Teams, commonly called High Performance Teams?
The answer is Yes.
To achieve this, Leaders can use the following types or styles of leadership to transform their teams into Self-Directed:
❇ Directive Leadership: Leader gives detailed instructions on how, when and where a task should be carried out and then supervises its execution.
❇ Participatory or Democratic Leadership: The leader asks for opinions, as well as information and recommendations, but, in the end, is the one who decides what should be done.
❇ Transformational Leadership: Leader benefits from the skills, knowledge and experience of members who contribute ideas to accomplish a mission.
❇ Delegative Leadership: The members are mature, experienced and have a very clear objective, mission and vision of the team.
The styles mentioned are related to the High Performance Team Scaling Model (HPTS) that I present.
Benefits:
✴ Time for strategy.
✴ Confidence in the team.
✴ Less supervision towards the team.
✴ Results.
