Stress and Anxiety

Por: Dr. Roch, El 29 mayo, 2024

Today I will talk to you about stress and anxiety, two major silent evils that make us sick and can be deadly.

Let’s start by identifying when a person has stress. The behaviors that indicate stress are: bad mood, irritability, anger, anxious thoughts, dizziness, nausea, general unhappiness, loneliness, and a feeling of being overwhelmed.

The manifestations of anxiety are: restlessness, tension, sweating, nervousness, and a feeling of fear.

And if you have both: faster heart rate, rapid breathing, diarrhea or constipation.

These two factors, very common in our society, have become a pandemic derived from the current lifestyle and constitute one of the greatest risks of mortality and all kinds of diseases.

Stress is often called the “silent killer” because we get used to living with it and stop doing anything to solve the issues that trigger it.

On the other hand, anxiety is also one of the evils of our time, and since the pandemic, it has spread among the population. Not only adults, but also young people and children suffer from it, and it is often confused between the two. Although one often leads to the other, it is important to know and distinguish their main characteristics in order to understand and manage them.

Prevention is an ideal way to help ourselves and others avoid falling into these two conditions that so greatly affect our emotional and physical health.

Practical and recommended ways to avoid or prevent stress and anxiety include Mindfulness techniques, mental silence (stopping looking outward and looking inward), and regular exercise such as walking for more than 30 minutes, cycling, playing paddle tennis, swimming, and any other sport that allows us to engage in physical activities.

All this helps to improve our overall health and to provide an outlet for the accumulation of tensions and conflicts that we generate and store in the form of stress and anxiety.

Take action to prevent or reduce these two “evils” that more than ever interfere with your well-being and affect your health and life in general.

No one else can do for you what is your responsibility to keep yourself healthy and balanced. If you are interested in delving deeper into this topic, I invite you to my retreats at the Summit of Leaders and Iron Man of Life. Thank you for reading.
