THE 10 SPIRITUALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASES
Welcome. Today we will talk about false spirituality. We will unmask the ego and the lying mind that makes us believe that we are spiritual when, in reality, it is the mind that directs our lives.
1) FAST-FOOD SPIRITUALITY
It consists of believing that there are quick and easy remedies to eliminate suffering and evolve spiritually. However, spiritual transformation cannot be rushed, since the process implies letting go of haste and respecting natural rhythms.
2) IMITATIVE SPIRITUALITY
It is the tendency to speak, dress, or act as a spiritual person is supposed to. It is like wearing a leopard skin to look like a leopard, without really being one.
3) SPIRITUALITY WITH CONFUSING MOTIVATIONS
Even if the desire to grow is genuine, it is often mixed with other motivations, such as the desire to belong, to be loved, to feel special or even superior, which can lead to personal ambition.
4) IDENTIFY WITH SPIRITUAL EXPERIENCES
It occurs when the mind, after having lived a spiritual experience, takes ownership of it and believes that everything it does comes from that state. However, these experiences are transitory and transcend the ego.
5) THE SPIRITUAL EGO
When a person identifies excessively with spiritual concepts and ideas, he tends to become invulnerable to criticism, which stunts his growth. He becomes impenetrable and detached from the world.
6) MASS PRODUCTION OF SPIRITUAL MASTERS
Today, many spiritual traditions award titles to people who are far from having achieved spiritual mastery. The problem is not that they teach, but that they present themselves as if they have reached a high degree of evolution.
7) SPIRITUAL PRIDE
After reaching a real level of spirituality, some people stagnate, using this knowledge as an excuse to avoid further growth. This is often accompanied by a feeling of superiority towards others.
8) GROUP MIND
Also known as groupthink, cult mentality or ashram disease, it occurs when members of a group accept implicit norms about how to think, speak, dress and act. Those who suffer from this “virus” reject those who do not comply with these norms.
9) THE CHOSEN PERSON COMPLEX
It is the belief that “our group is more evolved, powerful, enlightened, or simply better than others.” Thinking that we have found the right group for us is different from believing that it is the best group in absolute terms.
10) THE DEADLY VIRUS: THE “I HAVE ARRIVED”
This disease is so powerful that it can stop spiritual growth. It is like saying: “I have reached the end of my evolution; I have nothing more to learn.” At that point, growth ceases, as if we were killing our soul. The ego, at its highest level, closes itself off to new teachings.
