How to overcome the death of a loved one?
Getting over the death of a loved one is one of the most complex processes for a person. Unfortunately, there are no magic recipes. Even so, there are tools that could be useful for people looking for how to get over the death of a loved one.
- Talking about the absence of that person with friends and family is therapeutic. It helps to verbalize the event in order to rationalize it. On the contrary, denying what happened can lead the person to sink into a more delicate emotional situation.
- Recalling funny situations or good memories with that person also helps to alleviate the pain. It encourages keeping the memory alive while recovering the positive mark that they left behind.
- Celebrating events related to the loved one, such as birthdays, anniversaries, or celebrations, can fill the void that is felt. Although it is not advisable to do so when the absence is too recent, after some time it could help to connect with that person.
