MAGICAL MEXICO

The magic of Mexico is truly amazing. I am proud to be Mexican and I want to share some interesting points about my homeland.

Its official name is not Mexico, but the United Mexican States.

Although its flag was created in 1821, it took 147 years to become official in 1968.

Home of the largest pyramid, did you think the pyramids in Egypt were second to none? The Great Pyramid of Cholula measures 450 metres by 450 metres, rising 55 metres above the plain where its construction began.

As a Spanish-speaking country, Mexico has the most inhabitants. Logic might suggest that Spain is where the most Spanish is spoken. However, with over 120 million inhabitants, Mexico outnumbers any other country.

68 languages are recognized. One of the lesser-known curiosities about Mexico is that it has 68 native languages and 364 recognized linguistic variants in addition to Spanish. Surprisingly, Mexico does not have an official language.

The world's largest beer exporter, the Corona brand is best known in other countries.

Coca-Cola is the preferred carbonated drink. Mexico holds the record for the highest consumption of Coca-Cola in the world. The devotion goes so far that in the town of San Juan Chamula, Coca-Cola is literally considered a sacred drink.

Chocolate was a Mexican discovery. We have the Olmec, Aztec, Toltec and Mayan civilizations to thank for this.

Impressive rituals. One of the most impressive rituals of the Aztecs involved the sacrifice of between 10,000 and 50,000 people each year. They believed that the world would end if human blood did not flow.

The largest university in the world is Mexican. UNAM has more than 360,000 students enrolled. With these numbers, it holds the title of the largest university in the world. Founded in 1551, it also holds the record for being the oldest university in North America.

Because of its shape, Mexico is a country like no other in the world. With its two peninsulas and two gulfs, it straddles both sides of the Tropic of Cancer.

To the north, there are deserts and droughts, while to the south, it is enveloped in jungles and humidity.

Mexico is like an immense crumpled piece of paper, full of mountain ranges, plateaus, volcanoes and plains, covering all climates and housing a tenth of the world's plants and animals.

Mexico is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. It is in this country that I did four three-day retreats: one in Cancun, Guanajuato, Riviera Nayarit and Valle de Bravo. Thank you for reading me and for following me on my social networks.
