Written for your present-day self

By Dr. Roch

Seventy years from now, in that distant year of 2096, none of us will be here.

Our footprints will have been erased from the earth
and our voices will have faded in the wind.

People we'll never meet will live in our houses, using our things
And they won't even imagine that one day we laughed, cried, or dreamed within those walls.

We will be nothing more than a name in the memory of those who loved us…
And then, even that name will be forgotten forever.

And when we understand that, life reveals itself with immense clarity.

We discovered how pointless it is to live with anger, negativity, complaining, competing, or envy…
as if we were eternal.

How absurd to chase after perfection
while time, silent and relentless, continues its course.

Life—so brief, so fragile, so sacred—
It was not made to accumulate pleasure nor to suffer out of habit.

It was made to be aware of its temporality,
to live life to the fullest,
to love and be loved.

To give thanks for each sunrise,
every hug,
each food,
every kiss,
each trip
and every intimate encounter.

To value family, a job well done, and friends…
those who walk with us today, knowing that they will not always be here.

Just as we were not always with those we once loved
and which are now just fleeting memories…
beautiful while they shone,
but destined to follow their own course.

Do not leave room in your present day for anger, complaining, or grievances.

When we understand that we are all time travelers,
Bad times can be tolerated and left behind.

Every person who crosses our path brings a role and a purpose,
even though it may not seem so on the surface.

Each person leaves a lesson,
a loving touch,
a wound
or a light.

And even when fate separates them, the essential remains:

Don't dwell on what is painful, unfair, or unpleasant.,
because that will embitter your present and future life.

Hold on to the gratitude for the beautiful moment shared.

Let us live, then, with light hearts,
the suitcase without heavy loads
and open hands to receive the new things of the present and the future,
regardless of how long it may last.

Let's do good while we can.
Let us love without fear.
Let us forgive without resentment.
Let's celebrate life without waiting for a "perfect tomorrow".

Because our stay here is barely a breath…
And that sigh deserves to be lived with love, with peace.
and with deep gratitude for those who are still by our side today.

For the valuable beings like you to me and I to you.
For our loved ones: partner, children, friends and family.

With love,
Dr. Roch
