Emotions vs Feelings
In everyday life, it is often not the problem itself that complicates things, but how we feel about the problem.
First comes the emotion, then the feeling… and that can generate more conflict than the original problem.
Therefore, understanding this difference is key to having emotional clarity.
⸻
🔴 Emotions
• They are automatic reactions of the body, intense but brief.
• They arise in response to an external or internal stimulus.
• They are felt physically: chest pressure, sweating, palpitations.
• You can't avoid them, but you can learn to recognize them.
• Without emotion, there is no feeling.
⸻
🔵 Feelings
• They are mental processes that interpret emotions.
• They last longer than emotions and are repeated in the mind.
• They arise when you become aware of what you feel.
• Example: feeling butterflies (emotion) and thinking of it as love (feeling).
• They require self-awareness to regulate themselves.
⸻
💡 Conclusion:
If you want to solve a problem, first understand what you are feeling and why.
Emotion and feeling are not the same thing… and learning to differentiate them can give you emotional freedom.
